Gait Analysis

Gait analysis is a method used to assess the way in which we run or
walk to determine if we have any biomechanical or structural
abnormalities in our lower limbs and feet.

Spectrum Health Podiatrists will do a biomechanical analysis and may
use a gait scanner to analyse and record your gait pattern so that they
can make a comprehensive decision on your treatment and needs.
The gait scan analysis will involve walking across the gait scanner and
the scanner is pressure sensitive so it will pick up where, when and
how your foot touches the ground. This tells the Podiatrist a lot about
the biomechanical structure of your feet and lower limbs.

Our Expertise

From the gait analysis they can see the underlying cause of many foot and lower limb conditions and so can provide more accurate and appropriate treatment specific to you. The gait scan can be used to make a pair of custom designed orthotics to meet the needs of your condition.

Gait analysis allows our Podiatrists to pick up on any biomechanical faults or structural changes in their early stages so that they are caught early on and treatment can begin before any problem worsens.

If you are specifically looking to book in for a gait scan, please mention this upon booking your appointment.
